I sometimes sit down at my desk, ready to find out what’s happening in the world and wonder where I can actually see the news. In today’s world2 of 24 hour coverage, the news has become less of an informative tool (in my opinion) and more of an entertainment industry where stories must sell and cater to certain types of viewers. Perhaps this is why certain networks, such as Fox News, have taken such heat for being heavily biased towards particular paradigms. Even CNN, which I’ve heard referred to before as the ‘Clinton News Network’ tends to lean towards the left. To me, the Canadian CBC has always seemed tabloidish and I’ve tended to avoid it for anything but Canadian political news.
Personally, I only rely on the fine folks at the BBC for my international news coverage – they seem to have the widest coverage available with the seemingly most impartial viewpoints. Unlike CNN and Fox, who I feel are always looking to have the right soundbite to support a political argument, the BBC tends to be more interested in traditional news casting.
I could be wrong – both Fox and CNN do have moments of quality, however, as a whole I find them unreliable. My question is – what other news networks are as reliable as the BBC?
