How the East was lost…

By | Mar 30, 2009

A look at the NHL standings this year is interesting.  For the first time that I can think of, there’s a potential for no Canadian teams in the East to make the playoffs.  Montreal is in eigth spot and teetering, with Buffalo and Florida right behind them ready to take their place.  To my knowledge, this has not happened in quite some time.  Who would have imagined a world where the Columbus Blue Jackets are in a relatively comfortable playoff position while the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs are all but eliminated, with the Montreal Canadiens in a fight for their lives?  It’s truly a new world.
